Jason Tatum, Founder & Owner
Jason was a college student when he realized that he could make extra money simply by sharing his favorite music with others. The North Carolina native started out as a lot of young DJs do: he played gigs for fraternities and sororities. Jason's sunny disposition, engaging sense of humor and professional integrity quickly won him a following at many bars and dance clubs.
Jason successfully organized some of the most popular "college nights" staged throughout the state before deciding to expand his business. He established Active Entertainment in 2000.
Today, Active Entertainment is one of the most sought-after DJ and event-hosting services in southeastern North Carolina. Each year, Jason and his staff DJ more than 200 weddings and dozens of corporate events. Active Entertainment's staff are professionally trained club DJs who specialize in taking the art of music mixing to private events. Jason lives in Wilmington with his wife and his two children.
Brian Hood
Although his resume includes residential remodeling and industrial paving, Brian's true passion is music. He has DJ'd events for more than 15 years. His career stops include The Sidebar in historic downtown Wilmington, where Brian served as the resident DJ. Brian is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Texas native.
Shawn Booth
After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington's nursing program, Shawn landed a job at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. One weekend, he thought it would be fun to make some extra money by picking up a DJing gig at a local club. Soon, he was fielding offers to work in several establishments. In 2001, Shawn traded in his stethoscope to DJ full-time -- and he's never looked back. Shawn, who regularly plays clubs in and around Wilmington, Raleigh and Myrtle Beach, has a wonderful sense of timing that strikes just the right tone at weddings. He enjoys tailoring the perfect mix of music for all ages as he works to make every couple's big day unforgettable.
Matt Perkins
Since 1998, Matt has worked as a DJ throughout southeastern North Carolina, enhancing hundreds of weddings and corporate events with his expertise in music and attention to detail. Matt is a chemistry teacher at Topsail High School and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he received a bachelor's degree in marine biology. He lives in Wilmington with his wife and two children.
Charles Echols
Since 1996, Charles has DJ'd for radio stations, bars, nightclubs, corporate events and weddings. That well-rounded, professional experience has helped him develop a unique style and sharp ability to read and entertain crowds. He's now one of the most sought-after wedding DJs in southeastern North Carolina. Charles is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he received a bachelor's degree in communications. He lives in Wilmington with his wife and two little girls.
Craig Mann
Although Craig is a newcomer to the Wilmington area, DJing is nothing new to him. With more than 23 years of experience in the business, Craig has played hundreds of events -- weddings, reunions, proms, birthday parties, conventions and clubs -- throughout the Carolinas. Chalk up Craig's seamless and creative mixes to his mathematical mind. He's a graduate of Fayetteville State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics. Craig also teaches math -- and coaches tennis -- at Topsail High School.
Jordan Booth
There was never a time in Jordan's life that he wasn't exposed to music, DJs, bands and clubs. In elementary school he performed in his older brother's group, by middle school he was helping DJ at his school dances and by high school he was filling in at local events and private parties. Jordan's career path took him from mixing music to the kitchen of a local country club, where he honed his culinary skills. Those early years of music started calling him to make the switch from behind the scenes back to his turntables. Where once his cakes and ice carvings were a part of many local weddings, Jordan's DJ talents and professional interactions now help create a memorable experience for party goers and guests.
Craig Galloway
Craig spent his childhood in Germany, where he acquired a passion for traveling and an appreciation for cultural experiences. He attributes his DJ ability to a combination of a performing arts background and his analytical skills, which he used to earn a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He combines a professional spirit with his crowd-energizing background as a club DJ to make each couple's wedding day a memorable one.
Dan White
Although new to Wilmington, Dan's experience in the DJ world spans a decade, having been a resident DJ in nightclubs and lounges in Buffalo NY, for the majority of his career he held a residency at a premier wedding facility, bringing his high energy, fun personality to his music and event. Not only an experienced mobile and club DJ, Dan is a Paramedic for New Hanover Regional Medical center by day also holding a 3rd degree black belt in Karate.
